Research Progress of Laser Additive Manufacturing Nickel-Based Alloy Metal Matrix Composites

Nickel-based alloy metal matrix composite (NAMMC) is a new type of material which expected to replace traditional Nickel-base superalloy used in the manufacture important hot-end components aerospace, naval ships and industrial gas turbine engines due its excellent high temperature strength, superior thermal fatigue resistance, oxidation resistance corrosion resistance. However, these outstanding properties make it hard process materials with conventional manufacturing methods such as forging machining owing posing problems cost energy consumptions. Laser additive (AM) degree freedom high-energy-density laser beam heat source has been for processing NAMMC performance complicated structure. Nevertheless, some defects poor bonding, residual stress, cracking, pore etc. still exist AM parts. Therefore, this paper reviews research progress at present. The control method defect effect reinforcements on microstructure mechanical are summarized. In addition, challenges prospects future also discussed.
